Giants catcher Buster Posey was selected to his sixth All-Star Game but will sit out with right hip inflammation, which has taken a toll on his swing and run production.

Posey will receive a cortisone shot in his hip after Sunday’s game and rest during the four-day All-Star break, manager Bruce Bochy said. The Giants’ first game after the break is in Oakland.

“We talked about this in the past month, how we could get to the break and get this injection and hopefully get it to calm down and clear up,” Bochy said. “He’s been playing with it. You could tell.
