MIAMI — These are not your 1997 Marlins who won the World Series. Or your 2003 Marlins who did the same. These are your latest stripped-down Marlins who have no hope or, in the front office’s case, desire to contend in 2018.

Yet, here they are, one win from sweeping the Giants in a four-game series for the first time in the South Florida franchise’s 25-year existence.
