Stand down, Bay Area. Tim Lincecum will not be joining the Dodgers.

The Dallas Morning News reported Tuesday that the former Giants right-hander had agreed to a major-league deal with the Rangers with a $1 million base salary and incentives. He is destined for the Texas bullpen and could even be a closer.

Earlier Tuesday, FanRag Sports reported the Dodgers and Rangers were heavily pursuing Lincecum. The thought of Big Time Timmy Jim in that blue uniform must have left many Giants fans queasy.

Lincecum threw a showcase in Seattle on Feb. 15 for about 20 teams, including the Giants. The Chronicle reported that Lincecum gave the Giants the courtesy of a private workout as well. …continue reading here…
